With the shore power project, Hafenprojektgesellschaft Helgoland mbH has taken an important step towards emission-free port infrastructure on Heligoland. The aim was to supply commercial shipping with electricity from the shore during berthing times and thus significantly reduce noise, odor and pollutant emissions. At the same time, the port was to be further developed as a modern and sustainable location. <\/p>\n

TePm was responsible for the overall coordination of the project and supported the implementation from the tender to commissioning. Our aim was to combine technical quality, economic management and political coordination in such a way that a sustainable and permanently functioning solution was created. We were responsible for the procurement processes, cost and supplementary management as well as funding management. We also provided local construction supervision and support in political committees. <\/p>\n

One particular challenge was that there was no standard market solution for the required technical services. An initially tested variant did not meet the relevant German standards. Together with several companies, we therefore developed a charging station specially tailored to Heligoland. Site-specific requirements such as high wind loads, corrosion protection against a salty atmosphere and design integration into the Heligoland color concept were consistently incorporated into the planning. This resulted in a solution that enables high connected loads and at the same time withstands the extreme conditions at an exposed North Sea location in the long term. <\/p>\n

Today, the port has tailor-made shore-side power columns that directly supply commercial ships and other users. The project noticeably reduces emissions, increases the quality of life in the port area and strengthens the future viability of the location. At the same time, a wealth of resilient experience has been gained that also offers valuable guidance for other coastal and island locations. <\/p>\n
