The Harburg Sustainability Award has been jointly sponsored for many years by HARBURG21 – Local Sustainability Network, the Harburg district office, the district assembly and other partners. It is a visible sign of sustainable commitment in the district. Following the discontinuation of the previous organizational support, the steering committee was looking for reliable support for the implementation of the award ceremony. The aim was to continue the established format professionally and to put it on a secure footing in terms of organization and communication.
TePm was responsible for the organization and overall coordination of the award. Our tasks ranged from managing the call for entries and accepting and evaluating applications to preparing the jury meeting and press relations. At the same time, we were responsible for the planning and implementation of the award ceremony, including the venue, catering and program.
The response was great again this year. Numerous applications testified to the diversity of sustainable initiatives in the district. At its meeting on February 6, 2026, an independent jury selected the award winners. The announcement was made at a celebratory event that gave the projects visibility, recognition and networking opportunities.
One particular challenge was to further develop a long-established format in a sensitive manner. It was necessary to respect established structures, reliably support political coordination processes and at the same time introduce new ideas.
The sustainability award is endowed with 5,000 euros and is sponsored by the Harburg district office and the district assembly.
